Alocasia lauterbachiana Elephant Ear

Commonly referred to as an elephant ear due to its long wavy edged leaves.  

It is also known as Purple Sword because of the purplish vein down the center underside of the leaves.

Often grown indoors as a houseplant, it works well in containers and as a showpiece in a garden.

It can grow to a height of up to 3 feet in ideal conditions, and the leaves can be from 8 to 24 inches long.

It is a poisonous plant, like many alocasias.

It can grow in low light to bright filtered light, or a little bit of direct sunlight.
