Philodendron Jose Buono Variegated 10 inch

Philodendron Jose Buono offers you beauty without putting in much effort. It is a rare variety of Philodendrons adorned for its variegated elongated leafs. It is native to tropical parts of Colombia and the Caribbean regions. Philodendron Jose Buono enjoys bright indirect sunlight. In their tropical environments they grow under giant trees which protects them from direct sun exposure. An east facing window or patio reflection morning sunlight is best for this philodendron.

The variegated parts of the plant do not help in photosynthesis and do not absorb light. Hence, as only a few portions of the leaves contain chlorophyll to absorb sunlight, the plant cannot tolerate direct sunlight.

Like every other tropical plant, Philodendron Jose Buono loves consistently moist substrate. It is ideal for watering your plant once a week during the growing season and twice or three times a month during winter. Though the plant is intolerant to drought, it is more unforgiving in overwatering. Waterlogged soil is a culprit to Philodendrons. Insert a stick about 2-3 inches deep in the soil. If the stick feelslooks damp, then leave it to dry for a couple of days. Water the plant only if the soil feels dry.

The general indoor temperature is around 65°F. Thus, maintaining an ideal temperature is not hard for your Philos. Protect your plant in winter by providing insulation. You can add mulch like straw and dried grass as insulators on top of the soil. The ideal humidity requirement for Philodendron Jose Buono is above 60%. They grow around a humid range of 80% in the natural environment. However, on a brighter note, the plant can survive in humidity as low as 40% of the relative humidity.

A well draining resistent to waterlogging soil thats rich in organic material and minerals will help with air circulation and well as water drainage.
